CAREERSOURCE CHIPOLA SECOND ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF SUCCESS. This year's event took place on May 11, 2017, to recognize the accomplishments of individuals who took the first step toward building a career pathway. The event was held in Marianna, Florida, and highlighted individuals ages 16 to 24 that have recently obtained a high school diploma or GED as part of CareerSource Chipola’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth Program. In total, 43 individuals gained their high school diploma or GED in the five-county service delivery area signifying a 378% increase from 2016.
CAREERSOURCE CHIPOLA ANNOUNCES 2017 ROBOTICS COMPETITION WINNERS. CareerSource Chipola held their 10th Annual Robotics Competition here in Marianna and Team Stompy from Liberty County High School came in first place, Team Clouse from Vernon High School came in second, The Crowns from Marianna High School came in third, and Team ACC White from Blountstown High came in fourth place. Team Stompy also took the award for the Highest Single Round Score.
In the Log Book portion of the Competition, Team Stompy from Liberty County High came in first, The Crowns from Marianna High came in second, and Team Dumping Tiger from Chipley High came in third. Team Autobot from Cottondale High took home the Sportsmanship Award and Team Bearded Dragon from Poplar Springs High took home the award for the Most Unique Design.
The competition, co-sponsored by Opportunity Florida, was started by CareerSource Chipola to give area educators an extra tool to use as they help youth learn how to think critically, problem solve and work as a team.

FLORIDA MINIMUM WAGE INCREASES TO $8.10. Effective January 1, 2017, the minimum wage for Florida workers rose to $8.10. Tipped workers will earn an hourly rate of at least $5.08. Florida's minimum wage continues to exceed the federal minimum wage of $7.25.
CAREERSOURCE CHIPOLA ASSISTS CHIPOLA COLLEGE AND FPTC IN OBTAINING UPDATED EQUIPMENT. Nursing and welding students at Chipola College will now be honing their skills and developing their trade on brand new, state of the art equipment, thanks to a strong partnership with CareerSource Chipola. These schools are using the new resources to increase the quality and quantity of training available in our area.
